There’s nothing like decorating your home and yard for the holidays. Plastic snowmen, Rudolph’s flashing red nose and bright white lights crisscrossing your roof. Sounds magical right? Well it can be a recipe for disaster if you don’t use the correct extension cords.

Indoor and outdoor extension cords are not created equal. Just pick them up and compare if you don’t believe me. The indoor cord is lighter and usually thinner. The outdoor cord is often longer, thicker and more durable to withstand not only being walked on or run over but the outdoor elements as well.

“But Christmas lights are temporary,” you say? Even temporary lights must be powered by the correct extension cords. Fudging on this rule can not only be an expensive fix it can be dangerous.
